UPDATE – NO CURLING THIS SATURDAY (and other news)


Due to Fall for Greenville this weekend and people being out of town, it was decided to cancel curling this Saturday and resume on October 16.  However, we know some people will be out of town on the 16th as well, so we are asking you to please email us at palmettocurling@gmail.com if you plan on curling on October 16 so we know if we will have enough curlers present.

This past Saturday, the Magnificent Seven – Part Deux (Anne, Kurt, Bill, Michel, Nicole, Lon, and all the way from GERMANY – Emily! – welcome Emily!) with Anne playing Lead for both teams (kind of like playing All-Time Quaterback back in grade school) and Kurt and Lon Skipping for their teams, dueled in another Saturday night Curling Classic at The Pavilion.
Team Kurt (Anne, Nicole, Michel & Kurt) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after 2 Ends.  Team Lon (Anne, Emily, Bill & Lon) quickly rebounded with 3 point and 1 point End to tie it after 4 Ends, then pulling off an amazing 5 point End on the fifth End.  Team Kurt rallied on the 6th End for another point, but ran out of time after losing the 7th End.
Despite battling negative ice, once again, there were some really good shots made by everyone.

We had another historic first for the Palmetto Curling Club last weekend. The ice reverts to hockey beginning August 17. We still have this coming Saturday night on the schedule, August 14th and hope to see as many of you there as possible. The decision was made to continue on the two remaining Saturday nights in August as well.

SO, check your calendars for curling at 9:30 PM on August 21 and 28!!! We are considering skipping the Labor Day weekend date of September 4, unless a significant number express interest in curling that day as well. We will pick up again September 11, 18 and 25. Beau is working with the four other groups who utilize the only ice in town at the Pavilion to press our case for more ice time in Greenville. You may be asked to support our cause at meetings in the near future. In the meantime, we need to support the “league play/pick-up games/LTC” we have on Saturday night to keep the continuity of fun going, and second, show we are supportive of making curling “The Winter Sport of South Carolina.".
